Jose Alberto Lopez-Ibarra, 30, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 24, 2021 in Lexington.

Jose was born on July 26, 1991 in Puruandiro, Michoacan, Mexico to Manuel Lopez-Mendez and Virginia Ibarra-de Lopez. When Jose was a 6th grader, his family moved to Lexington, Nebraska where he attended public schools. He graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 2010. While in High School, Jose excelled in soccer and was the goalie on the High School varsity team.

Following high school, Jose became a father to a beautiful girl, Jenna Faye Lopez. They moved to Kearney, Nebraska for a few years where he worked for Monsanto. In 2012, they moved back to Lexington, where Jose enjoyed coaching his daughter’s soccer team.

Those who knew Jose can attest to his sense of humor; he loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed fishing at the inlet at Johnson Lake, was a talented artist and his daughter and family were the most important thing to him. Jose had a selfless soul, and will never be forgotten.

Survivors include his parents; Manuel Lopez-Mendez and Virginia Ibarra-de Lopez of Lexington; his daughter, Jenna Faye Lopez of Lexington; siblings, Victor (Diana) Lopez of Lexington, Yohana (Hector) Reyes of Fernley, Nevada, Lizbeth Lopez of Omaha and Daniela Lopez of Lexington; grandmother, Maria Salud Lemus of Lindsey, California; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.

Jose was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jose Lopez Zuniga, Julia Mendez Gonzalez and Esteban Ibarra Rangel.

Mass Of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez, officiating.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 1-5 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. A Rosary will follow the visitation at St. Ann’s Catholic Church and will be at 7:00 p.m.

Interment will be in St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Lexington.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
